  1. I saw these horses while walking the dog near my village & I loved the autumn sunlight in the photos. Over the years I have read that alot of artists are inspired by light. The feeling of light always seems to be missing from my paintings, but I think I can get a better sense of it using oil paints. It's alot easier putting light on top of dark rather than having to plan ahead & leave the white of the paper with Watercolours.
The horses reminded me of a few years ago when someone dumped a load of these horses in the village. They were running up & down the hill calling to each other, for a few weeks they enjoyed their freedom but it felt like the wild west to all of us humans who had to live along side them.

  3. I have always loved pastel painting but have never been brave enough to try, I used to just add a little on top of my Watercolours, it is easy to get set in your ways & play safe.
So I watched You Tube & it inspired me to finally have a go. I was reminded of the words by Eleanor Roosevelt who said "you should do one thing every day that scares you". I managed two scary things yesterday as I used complementary under painting for the first time too.
I also have just learnt about "Paint my Photo" a great site where photographs can upload photos for artists to paint. I am hooked already, I saw a photo of a hare which inspired me to do my first ever pastel painting.
